NBLC Season XI: AJ Mosby Jr.’s Greatest Hits

By Jack Ford

There were many quality players making their NBLC debut in 2023, meaning the race for Newcomer of the Year was the most heated of the post-season awards.

Of all the worthy candidates, dominant all-arounder AJ Mosby Jr. turned many heads in 2023 as well as bringing major offensive power to the Sudbury Five. He helped them achieve their most successful season yet and he finished the third-highest scorer and leader in steals and field shooting in his first NBLC season.

Below is Mosby at his best on his NBLC debut:

February 18th at Newfoundland Rogues

Throughout February Mosby had a streak of six twenty-point games, the centerpiece of which being his performance in an OT win over the Rogues. As well as posting 26 points he also did well in distributing the ball and creating more scoring opportunities for his team mates, finishing an assist short of a double-double.

March 11th vs Flint United

Mosby filled the stat sheet and led Sudbury in a blowout win over the visitors from Michigan.

Playing just thirty-two minutes, he scored 24 points on 56% shooting, 8 total rebounds, 3 assists and even managed a block on a night where he was doing everything for Sudbury, patrolling everywhere on the court.

March 17th at Windsor Express

Midway through the season Mosby put on a shooting clinic in Windsor, leading all on the floor with 35 points on 75% shooting and six of seven from beyond the arc. He completely exerted his dominance over the Express here and was key to their fourth straight double-digit blowout.
