Hurricanes Prevail at Scotiabank Over Magic

The Halifax Hurricanes were victorious in their return to their home floor at the Scotiabank Centre.

The beat the second place Moncton Magic 101-86 on Thursday night.

After a tight first half that saw the Hurricanes struggle with shooting, they came out of halftime and outscored the Magic by wide margins.

Billy White had a powerful game, finishing with 34 points and 19 rebounds, game highs in both categories.

As a team, the Hurricanes outrebounded the Magic 55-38. It was 18-7 in the Hurricanes favour on the offensive glass, leading to lots of second-chance points.

Other big contributors for the Hurricanes were Tyron Watson, who had 19 points, 10 rebounds and Antoine Mason who finished with 16 points.

Cliff Clinkscales had a game-high 10 assists to go with 11 points.

Thursday night's game was sponsored by the Downtown Halifax Business Commission. 2018 Team Canada Olympic medalist Jillian Saulnier helped with the ceremonial tip-off.

More than 3,600 fans attended the Thursday evening match up.
